New Braunfels Railroad Museum

SONY DSC The founding stone of this historical and wonderful railroad museum was laid down in October, 1984 where organizational meetings were held and a railroad society came to be known as New Braunfels Railroad Museum. Since then the museum developed in every field and now it is seen as heaven for rail fans. The museum showcases large variety of artefacts and photographs from the golden age of railroading which are related to New Braunfels operations. The best thing of museum is that it is open to all with ZERO CHARGE.

In 2008, New Braunfels Railroad Museum purchased a 1922 built Pullman Dining Car where you can experience the romance of dining on the rails. This Pullman passenger car served during the World War 2 era. So feeling of dinning in very historic rail coach is going to be wonderful for you. The coach is available for bookings for Holiday parties, birthdays, anniversaries, business meeting etc. Another attraction of museum is 1950 MISSOURI PACIFIC CABOOSE. It was delivered in 1987 to NBRRM. This caboose is made of steel and is very big, roomy cars with massive under frames. Many changes are done over the years like addition of electricity, radio equipments, modern cooler/ice etc.

The major part of museum display is Model railroading. Many events are also held in museum like Kids Fun Day, Kids Birthday Party, Adult Party, Field Trips and Train shows. Kids Fun Day is held on first and third Saturday of each month where kids run the trains and become the junior engineers. Kids and Adult Birthday Parties can be booked in Dining Car with some basic fee of $125.00 for 3 hours. Museum also allows schools to schedule trips to the museum for educational purposes. Timings for trips are between 9 am to 8 pm. The museum also has a library which includes approximately 600 books mostly about railroading.
